Jiffy Steamer J-2000 Residential Series 1300-Watt Garment Steamer

Poor Looks; Outstanding Craftsmanship5

I'll make it simple: If you are looking for a home-edition garment steamer your top 2 choices in the marketplace will likely be the Jiffy 2000 and the Rowenta 8100.

I tested both for 10 hours; on a 1 to 10 scale:

Jiffy (Looks = 6; Engineering = 10; Handling = 9; Craftsmanship = 10).

It looks like a mop bucket on wheels but it performs like a jet engine; every part of this machine from the plate at the bottom of the unit to the steam handle is built for rugged usage.

Rowenta (Looks = 10; Engineering = 5; Handling = 7; Crafsmanship = 4).

It looks like a UFO but performs like a Pinto with much less steaming power; it is built as a toddler's toy having most parts made with inexpensive plastic including the watertank base and valve: pull the machine a single foot OR tilt it a mere 1 inch and you will experience a slow-building cascade.

Buy the Rowenta 8100 as a decorative piece to make your closet look good.

Jiffy Steamer 0601 ESTEAM Travel Steamer Black

as good as the full-size steamer5

I compared this travel model with the full-size J-2000 steamer. They were both very good at removing wrinkles from business-type clothing. We steamed a full week's wardrobe and the clothing done with the travel steamer looked just as good as the others. The only drawback to the travel model is related to its small size - it needs to be refilled every 3-6 garments and the smaller steam head means that it takes longer to steam an item. However I actually found that the small steam head worked better on small areas like collars and cuffs especially since it has squared corners. The corners mean that you do have to be a bit careful with delicate knits though. Worth the price if you really need to look your best when you travel.More detail ...

Panasonic NI-C78SR Steam/Dry Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate

Great iron5

Very nice iron - especially for the price I paid on Amazon.com. Has a removable water tank which makes it easier to fill without making a mess. Nice very polished stainless steel soleplate which glides easily over clothes. Has an anti-calcium system to prevent buildup caused by hard water which can block the steam system. Another nice feature is the power cord retractor - which works very well.

Panasonic NI-S300TR 1200-Watt Steam Iron with Curved Titanium-Coated Soleplate White/Green

Nice Iron!5

So far I've used this on pattern paper and several different types of fabric. It has a nice weight that you can allow to do most of the work for you and it has a wonderful grip. It is fairly easy to fill the tank and if you use a 3/4 cup measure to do it you'll be just under Max - the tank is just over 6 oz.

It glides beautifully over my fabric though I had to be a little careful with the paper since this iron is fairly well weighted. It has both a spray button and a steam button and a simple switch between dry some steam lots of steam.

The retractable cord is a wonderful thing and works very well. Blessed thing to have when there are curious animals that like to chew on cords or anything string-like. Makes for neat storage too!

Heats quickly and reheats quickly if it has shut itself off. It gives you 10 minutes if it is in the upright position so that is plenty fine.

I love this iron!More detail ...
